Part 12

Almost Moving Day 

Finalise your packing. Pack everything you don’t absolutely need before your move. Don’t leave it all to the day before your move as it could take longer than you think.

Back up your hard drive. We highly recommend you back up your data before packing your computer.

Tidy the gardens. Give your lawn one last mow. Give the edges one last snip. Trim the bushes and blow or sweep the paths. Don’t forget the weeding too. Then empty your mower, whipper snipper, blower and any other items of fuel.

Handy tip. You’ll have less weight and far less mess for the move if you avoid watering your plants and move them under cover if rain is forecast.

Disassemble. Start disassembling what you can with the tools you set aside. Typical items include kids play equipment, beds that aren’t being used, trampolines and large desks. We recommend you pull apart any flimsy IKEA style furniture too, these items are not ideal to move in one piece.

Cash and Jewellery. You should pack your cash, jewellery and any other small items of significant value in a box that you take with you on moving day.

Last minute confirmations:

• Time to hand over the keys and collect the new keys

• On The Move Utilities connections should contact you in moving week to confirm, if not call them to check 1300 785 247.

• House and carpet cleaners arrival time

• We will confirm our arrival times three days out and the day before the move if you have already booked with us
