Gruelling Challenge – Check! City To Bay 2011

Well it all went great. We survived. It took us just over 2 hours. It was a great day full of laughs and sweat. Congratulations to the team of Adelaide removalists that completed the gruelling push. They were myself, Ben Ballard, Josh Ballard, Adrian Duke, Ben Rowling and Nathan Meggison. Thank you so much to our fantastic pianist Kerry Martin, and her partner Byron who done a great job of making sure the other participants of the fun run didn’t get run over by the piano.

The comment of the day came from a participant who we overtook. She seemingly didn’t like it when I said to her “Your getting over taken by a piano”.

She looked at me unimpressed and replied “Yeh but there are 5 of you pushing it and it’s got wheels”

Ben heard her and laughed and said “ok shall we carry it, it only weighs 650kg, will that impress you”

Her response was “no!”

The most common comment we got from tired participants was “can I get a ride on that thing?”. But nobody seemed to want to pay the $50 per kilometer fee that went with the privilege.

I would like to thank Minda for their involvement and help in organising the event. We raised $505 for their refurbishment of their holiday home, Dunsford House.

Next year we will be doing it again.
