Don’t assume a 1 bedroom unit has a handful of items

We were driving out to a furniture removal in North Adelaide, when we read the job sheet it said that we were moving a 1 bedroom unit. The job sheet has all of the information on it that we collect from the client whilst booking the job over the phone. 95% of the time the job sheet is accurate, we provide a description of the job, the main items and how many boxes are there, what the access to the house of unit is like and a time estimate to complete the job. This particular job was estimated at approx 20 cubic meters and an approximate completion time of 4 hours which is a little bit excessive for a 1 bedroom unit but North Adelaide is notorious for having bad access and lots of expensive furniture so we added a little bit extra to be safe. Once we arrived to this job we realised we had severe underestimation, there was more like 50 cubic meters of highly polished, ultra heavy hardwood furniture with 3 flights of stairs. We explained to the client we only estimate on what they tell us they have and apologised it would take longer but at least the client had plenty of notice that it would take longer and cost more. So the client agreed to continue and we went at it, we worked extra hard to get the job done as efficiently as possible but this job just dragged out. In the end the job took 12 hours which is immense for a 1 bedroom move but at least every item arrived safely and damage free. The client complimented us on how hard our removalists worked and even tipped the guys. The moral of this story is, be accurate when telling us or any removalist what you have. We can come out and site your move prior to booking you to give you a quote but generally its easier and just as accurate to do it over the phone. Call us and speak to steve about your moving needs.
