Giving back to the community
As Complete Removals enters its 12 year in business, we now have the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported us throughout the growth of our company. We have some more ideas coming up soon so stay posted on our Blog (coming soon).
Complete Removals becomes Carbon Neutral
One of our biggest concerns and one of the most pressing issues that the future of our civilization faces is climate change, humans have made a huge impact on our precious planet and whether you do or don't believe in climate change we must curve our damage we are causing, prevention is the best cure and here at Complete Removals we are trying to lead by example. To combat our emissions our trucks produce we have become a Carbon Neutral Company. We offset approximately 126 tonnes of hazardous emissions each year through Trees for Life, a volunteer nonprofit organization (www.treesforlife.org.au). We feel good that we play a small, but important role in a cleaner, safer future for our children so we don't have to relocate them to another planet in years to come.
Complete Removals in the Convoy for Kids for disabled children
This year's highlights, were two inaugural events. The first being the Novita Convoy for Kids. This event supports kids living with disabilities and their families. We joined 600 trucks and drivers donating their time to take disabled kids on a fun convoy drive through Adelaide, with crowds of people watching its like a truck pageant and its always a hoot for disabled kids. As our fleet grows we will continue to support this special event.
Complete Removals push 640kg of Piano in the City to Bay Fun Run
This one is our 15 minutes of fame, or atleast 1 hour and 45 minutes of gruelling fame. Our team of removalists will push a piano, bolted to a steel frame with a exceptional pianist playing it, down Anzac Highway with 35 000 other participants in the 12 km walk/run. This great idea origainally came from Callum Donaldson after a hard days work in 2006, we were in a pub having a knock of drink when he hit us with it. When asked why we would push a piano so far, by the advertiser in 2006 Calllum said "We've been practicing six days a week for the past 10 years except, normally we dont park the truck 12 kms away". How true this is!
Five years later, its a much anticipated annual event that many of thousands of people enjoy watching. In 2010 we contacted The Guiness Book of Records to see if we could set a new world record but we were declined. We wonder if a marathon would be more interesting to them. Next year we will find out. We dont just do it for fun, we raise money for charity. In recent years we have raised money for Kids With Cancer and The McGuiness McDermott Foundation, in 2011 we are very proud to be supporting Minda Incorperated. Minda are trying to raise funds for the refurbishment of their holiday home, Dunsford House. This year we set a target of $1500 but unfortunately only managed to raise $505.00.
Next year Complete Removals will partner with Minda again to support another project and hopefully raise more. We are considering pushing a Grand Piano next year so stay posted.
