A post from Katrina the admin wizard

Wow…

What a fantastic year for Complete Removals! With so much work going on, it has given the boys a chance to show us what they are made of, and damn they are impressive!

I am so proud to be part of such a strong team filled with great guys.

A post from Ben the GM (up and coming)

Adelaide Furniture removalists start to wind down

For the local removalists at Marion, it has been a tough 4 weeks but we are there. The holidays are here. Even though they are short they are always the time we look forward to. Moving yourself in 2011 vs moving with Complete Removals part 1

I know you are all probably thinking this thread of blogs are going to be corrupted because they are written by a removalist but I urge you to consider that I will give you both sides and try and be non bias as possible…maybe a little bias but its better to move with professional removalists like Complete Removals. When moving yourself the first thing you need to do is decide whether you are going to move your good in a trailer or a hire truck. If you use a trailer you have a maximum space of approximately 3-4 m3.  The average 2 bedroom unit move is 15-20 m3. This means that you can expect to do about 4-5 trips in a trailer. If you hire  a trailer you can be looking at $60 to $70 hire costs for the day. Here are the immediate problems with a trailer, they have a checker plate floor and no ramp so the heavy furniture you will have to slide on the trailer. This can snap off legs, or chip nicely polished sides. Your fridge will have to be lifted onto the trailer which is heavy and may hurt you back and once you slide it down the trailer you have a good chance of snapping one of the wheels or adjustable legs off. It is nearly impossible to avoid sliding at some point on the trailer. See tomorrows post for part 2.

Did you know??????

That in America they don't use the word removalists and if you used the word whilst talking to an American they would ask you what you mean. They use the term moving companies or movers. A useless piece of information followed by another….they don't charge per hour, they charge for weight so after they have loaded your goods they drive to the nearest weigh bridge and weigh your possessions. Too bad if you are moving a Library but great if you only own wicker furniture.

Great relocation from Morphett Vale to the bay at Glenelg!

Tuesday, 04 January 2011 00:00

We have a  great referral from a young family in Glenelg that just recently moved from Morphett Vale. They are a growing family with 3 children and had quite a large move. We had to use 2 trucks and 4 men but were able to beat our own quote by $230. They were thrilled and nothing was damaged. The wife even commented that the removalists were a credit to our company. Thankyou Sam and Teresa for you comments. Good luck in the future.

Is this post important yes

Do I pack my Yellow and white pages and take them with me to the new house or do I leave them here, what have the people done in our new house, if I dont take mine and the other house doesn't have any I wont have a copy of each. Well it wouldn't be the end of the world with the online services and Google these days but if you still use the old hardcopy books never fear. My suggestion is take your with you, that way you will at worst, end up with 2 copies of each. Sometimes its the little things your local removalists in Adelaidecan tell you that makes all of the difference.

Hoist or ramp??

It is very common that clients ring up and ask us if we have a truck with a hoist, the thing is that a ramp is better. The only time experienced furniture removalists need to use a hoist is for a grand piano, a 9 x 4.6 or three quarter size large pool tables. Everything else is easier on a high grip ramp, plus a ramp slows down a job significantly. A small removal that would take and hour to load with a ramp would take 1 hour and 15 minutes with a hoist. Hands down a ramp is better 99% of the time.

Another new years resolution

Furniture removals leave a significant carbon footprint due to fuel used by the trucks and materials used to prepack a home. This year we want to put a real focus towards recycling our boxes and reselling greatly discounted second hand boxes. This has nothing to do with profits but more a favor to our planet and our conscience. If you have second hand boxes don't hesitate to call us and we will pick them up straight away…we are even looking at buying them back to encourage our clients to recycle their moving packing materials.

New years resolution

This year our moving company is going to focus on our clients. We already have a customer orientated removals service but its hard to match that 1950's style of personal service. And also the customer is always right….even when they are wrong. Its very hard when your clients are moving house and are already stressed and hyper vigilant for the smallest mistake we may make. But we do a very good job of it already and our removalists are always improving their on site problem solving skills. This year will be a great year to be a Complete Removals client.
