A Strange Funriture Removal: Barbie Doll Torturer Or Artist?
This furniture removal was approximately 3 years ago.....about 2008. We done a furniture removal job in the Adelaide Hills near Blackwood. When we arrived at the job we met our client, she was a young hippy type. Her hair was in Dreads, she wore your typical hand woven clothes and had piercings all over her. She had a very warm but kooky personality, she asked us just to shift her big furniture as she had not finished packing her boxes and was certainly in no rush to do so. As removalists, we love to meet and spend time with all sorts of different personalities, this client in particular left a peculiar impression on us.
Shortly after arrival the client was very excited to show us her latest art work, when we got to the back room of this cute little cottage nestled amongst the bush we saw a room full of Dismembered Barbie Dolls. My removalist offsider Mark and I could not believe our eyes....we just looked at each and didn’t know whether to laugh or be horrified, it induced a feeling i had one before when i realised i was moving the crazy cat lady.
A Furniture Removalist knows the customer is always right, no matter what!
We chose to just compliment the client on her work and asked why she does it. She said she has always been infatuated with Barbie but just felt she needed certain adjustments. Heres some examples of what we saw.....There was a large Jar full of a clear syrup with Barbie Heads floating around in it with glitter. There were two book ends, one with Barbies upper torso and the other with Barbies lower torso, there was a hanging piece on the ceiling with all different hanging Barbie body parts on it . She had a wooden cd stack with Barbies upper torso on the top and her legs coming out the sides at the bottom, the list goes on and there are some that I cant even write about involving the Ken Doll. All in all, there must have been 30 pieces that she had made out of different Barbie parts and this client was truly proud of all of them. If your a furniture removalist reading this and have a similar story, tell me about it so i can write about it. My email address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
